Virginity Fetish? Welcome to the Hyman Shop!

Thank goodness for Dan Savage's "Savage Love" columns. I just learn something new every week, or a lot of the time!

For those of you who aren't familiar with Savage's weekly column, here is the link to this week's offering: http://www.thestranger.com/seattle/S...e?oid=20706070

One of the questions asks about a virginity fetish. Here is the shop that was recommended:

http://hymenshop.net/

I just have always believed that sexual innocence is overrated for adults. However, I have to respect a fetish as long as it's consensual and isn't a part of some societal pressures with young females and certain expectations.

Anyway, thought this would be a different topic to discuss!

Best,
Elisabeth

EW...if the other party is a virgin, he/she would not have experience to draw from for consensual consideration. Would not most young adults lose their virginity to someone within 5 years of their age? I would think this type of fetish could wierd out a young adult especially when losing their virginity to someone who is very experienced in sexual encounters and might want to experience many things with the virgin.

The virgin party may get overwhelmed and feel in over his/her head...possibly creating emotional scars for some time...don't you think? I have not given this fetish any thought prior but the topic is an interesting one.

Would said virgin need to set up an observer to be his/her advocate for safety (psychological primarily because 99.9% of board members will respect the other party). Or perhaps an agreement drawn up early to outline what is "for sure", what is "off limits" and the other activities "in between"?

This is a very interesting topic...
This is a very interesting topic honestly I was not as disturbed reading this but thats probably because I read the "sounding" article first. The latter part of that article was interesting faking you are a virgin to your husband to be. I would want to read their tales lol

Yeah still cringing a little. From the sounding article wow

The whole blog post was an interesting read...
Wow that is amazing. I looked at the website. I think it is great if it can keep a woman from being shamed especially if she is in a strict male dominated society.

That is cool that there is actually a product like this. Can open doors to a new fetish.

As a guy, I never fooled around with girls until my late 20s (not for a lack of trying). I was just raised in one of those strict religous homes. Now, that doesn't mean I didn't try 😄. I whacked off to the lingerie section of the Sears catalouge until I started buying porn. Just never did it with a real girl until I "lost" my virginity to a provider in my late 20s. I've always regretted not being able to lose my "innocence" with a girl I actually had feelings for. I wish that I could go back in time and re-live my latr teen/early 20s years. Having said that, I have a very strong interest in the virginity fetish. I'd like to find an actual virgin who would let me take it from her. I know that will most likely never happen, but substituting this fetish sounds interesting.
...firstly the fact that the site [hymenshop dot net] is assuming that only Muslim women have to deal with shame and stigma around "losing" their "virginity" before marriage is questionable, to say the least. Especially with recent regressive shifts pertaining to women's reproductive health in certain Bible Belt states.

But also: "Please note that inserting the artificial hymen inside the vagina any longer than 20 minutes before the intercourse may result in the product losing its form and eventually dissolve inside the vagina."

AND

"Please note that some of the artificial hymen will dissolve inside the vagina and will not fall out completely after the intercourse."

Is there any concrete information on what substance this is?

Elisabeth,

In the BDSM scene it is not too uncommon to find people that do a harder core form of virgin play. Where the lady's vagina is closed a tiny amount with some surgical glue (like superglue) or a single suture. The little tear during penetration is supposed to simulate the act of a tearing a hymen pretty accurately (according to some sources). I can't testify to what it feels like, but I know I saw that form of play in at least 5 or 6 scenes at BDSM parties here in Austin in the past decade. Never heard of any serious negative medical problems associated with it.

I didn't bleed when I lost my virginity. I would think that glue would tear the delicate skin "down there" but heck, I know people who have done worse.

And I also remember in one of the Marquis de Sade stories, sewing up a woman's vagina, then ripping it open while screwing, was one of the scenes.

I always found that to be a bit too violent for my tastes, even as a fantasy.

Now ... taking a virgin? And having that feeling of her feeling REALLY heated, heart pounding, something really new?

Yeah. I could see that. I REALLY appreciate you sharing your knowledge with us, though. I hope to see you post more in Another Realm!

Anal virginity on the other hand is a subject that I find stimulating, a lady having never experienced anal intercourse, being seduced into a naughty 'forbidden' pleasure. The apprehension, the yielding to pain in order to achieve pleasure. It certainly gets my heart pounding and makes my body temperature rise.

Thanks for another good topic Elizabeth.
