Shreveport vs Texarkana

Ok now I realize that these are two totally different cities that are over an hour apart. But Texarkana is on the Amtrak line and Shreveport doesn't seem to be. I was thinking about making my first visit to the area later this fall and I wondered, if there was a lady who you'd been dying to see for some time and she passed through Texarkana, would you make the drive? Not me, persay, just in general. Let's say there is no one else who is anything like her and she is exactly your type. You have plenty of advance notice to make room in your schedule. Is it crazy to think of driving so far, or is that about par for the course for niche hobbying in the area? It seems much closer than Dallas or New Orleans.

If I buy a car before my next trip I'll definitely come to Shreveport, of course, but I might end up doing my next southern tour via Amtrak...

Thanks for your feedback!

Zoey...depending on where the guys live, Texarkana is 1 1/2 hrs at the most from here. I would have no problem making that drive if I wanted to visit a lady. I would never ask her for any discount knowing I'd be sending gas and 2-3 hrs in the car coming to see her. I would, however, ask her to be slightly generous in her warm up time to allow me a moment to chat and relax from the drive. So I guess my answer is .....Sure I'd be OK with it!

BTW....AmTrack is a great way to travel. Hope your trip goes well.

I had guys come see me from there! and longview, arkansas. im like whoo hoo! lol
Just so you know, Amtrack does "service" Shreveport. They have a daily connection from Marshall Texas to Shreveport by an Amtrack bus. It picks up and drops off at the Shreveport airport.
I love them both! Have fun!

Wow thanks for all the responses! Knowing Amtrak services Shreveport makes me want to visit Shreveport itself! That is good to know about Texarkana for future reference though! Thanks again everyone who responded!
