Regional Director of Major Gifts
About the Opportunity:
The Regional Director of Major Gifts will be a member of an individual giving team, reporting to the Managing Director of the non-profit organization. They will be responsible for building and actively managing a portfolio of 50-100 major gift prospects. As well as identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding annual and major gift donors, with a primary focus on developing relationships with high-net worth individuals who have an outright gift capacity of $100,000 to $1 million.
Duties:
Conducts 140+ face-to-face visits to donors per year, including at least 30 prospects visits.
Identifies and qualifies at least 25 new prospects per year.
Undertakes a minimum of 50 travel days per year.
Manages fundraising activities for assigned areas and regional portfolio.
Recruits new members for the advisory boards and committees as part of the cultivation and stewardship plans.
Will provide strategic guidance and staff support for volunteer committees.
Manages and mentors shared staff assistant.
Performs other responsibilities upon request, as needed.
Summary:
The ideal candidate will be capable of identifying donor funding opportunities that match the non-profits' priorities, creating and presenting proposals to donors that effectively make the case for support, and raising funds for departments that include: nutrition, immunology and infectious diseases, biostatistics, and epidemiology, biomedical research, healthcare, higher education, and other programs such as the Women in Health Initiative. They will be a proactive relationship builder, capable of nurturing key existing relationships while cultivating new ones to promote philanthropic success. In addition, the successful candidate will possess the following competencies: judgment, strategic thinking, initiative, ability to deal with ambiguity, quality decision making, integrity and trust, interpersonal savvy, listening, negotiating, presentation skills, priority setting, strategic agility, strong written communications, openness to risk, persistence, creativity and collaboration.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree, Masters preferred.
Must be able to close 6 and 7 figure gifts.
Demonstrated track record of identifying and qualifying new prospects.
Possess a team mentality with a collegial, collaborative and communicative style and ability to exercise sound judgment, display sensitivity, tact and diplomacy.
Ability to both verbally articulate compelling cases for support and write strategic proposals.
Must possess the ability to translate complex information to lay audiences.
Must possess the ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects with competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
International experience and foreign language skills a plus.
Supervisory experience with record of developing and mentoring staff.
Must be willing to work nights and weekends as required. Must be able to travel.
Must be able to obtain client information from executives of approximately 165 leading business and financial firms.
Additional Information:
Time off: 3-4 weeks paid vacation, paid holiday break, 12 paid sick days, 11.5 paid holidays, and 3 paid personal days per year.
Compensation:
The Regional Director of Major Gifts will be provided with an opportunity to earn $1,000 per hour through daily rates, backend deals, residuals, royalties, salary, commission, fringe benefits, performance-linked incentives, gratuitous payments, deferred compensation, or post-retirement consulting contracts in the adult entertainment industry as an independent contractor (e.g., actress, exotic dancer, escort, massage therapist, model) by negotiating customized employment contracts at award ceremonies, corporate conferences, press events, charity fundraisers, fashion shows, product launches, live events, or private parties for movies, personal appearances, speaking engagements, TV shows, magazines, or merchandise with any one of the world's 199,235 wealthiest high-net-worth individuals, who each have a net worth of at least $30 million.
