Columbus Blue Jackets

Anyone else watch the Sabres game tonight??
Loved the abbreviation they used on the broadcast.

Usually the abbreviation is something like Buf for Buffalo, Bos for Boston etc.
Now every once in a while... say if it's a New York City team...
they will use NYR for NY Rangers... or NYI for the NY Islanders....

But since it was Columbus... which does NOT have two NHL teams....
I'd have expected "Col"....
But NO.....
Plastered on the screen for the entire game was "CBJ"....
Fuckin made me giggle every time I saw it.

I wondered about that too. But then realized that COL could be Colorado and CB could be Chicago Blackhawks. So I guess CBJ was about all that was left. Maybe the NHL thinks it's as big as Formula 1 and has specific 3 letter codes for teams the way F1 has for drivers.
