Guest numbers

When a profile gets 'guested', sometimes there is a 6 digit number, sometimes there is a 6 digit number followed by a dash and another number. What is the significance of the dash and extra digit when it occurs?

it is the date of the guest, when there is more than one in a day they use dashes and numbers
