Baton Rouge advice needed

I will be headed to BR later this afternoon. I had planned to hang out in NO 1 more day so I haven't had a chance to look into any info in BR.

This is my very first trip there so I have no clue on areas to stay in or stay away from.

If anyone has any advice, it would be very helpful as I prefer not to be looking on my phone while driving down the interstate... LOL

Also, any advice on food or fun in the area is appreciated... Thanks!

stay away from the mall area....usually downtown or college area is best.......

The mall area can be ok (has been for me), but Seigen area is definitely is not cool though. Downtown is pretty safe and hoppin' too! College area has been a little hot in the last few months from groups of girls sharing one room and coming in and out with pimps. I think its ok now, but you want to stay away from the places on the end of Constitution (off College drive) and the places right near LSU.
