RECENT Bangkok UPDATE ANYONE

Hey, has any one been to bangkok recently, Last time i was there clubs were closing at 2 and many other problems.. is everything ok. I am thinking of a trip down there in march
Last time I was there was in late November/early December.

I'm told the clubs were closing at 2. I didn't see it, as I'm usually "otherwise occupied" back at the hotel well before that time.

I'm going back in a little under 3 weeks. More when I know it.

I was there for a couple of days about five weeks ago. I heard the same thing about the 2:00 am closing, but like Sidewinder, I was otherwise occupied by then. The top girls are usually taken by 10-11 anyway. No other problems that I've seen....beyond the usual. Troll carefully, don't take any shit and remember there's always a great soapy if the go-gos aren't working for you.

You should be reading current news about Thailand, about 2 weeks ago 2 pipe bombs went off at the Siam Paragon high end mall on Sukhumvit. Several reports of foreigner being shaken down by police. Just Google such incidents.

When I was there last Nov-Dec, I saw no issues. Martial law has put a dampener on street vendors, only food vendors allowed. It's not Bangkok of old. Mongering continues as usual.

My 2 cents

When I was there in July, the places that opened early closed at 2 but the after hours clubs all still opened around that same time and kept going until I left so no idea how late those were open. I had arranged my date early every night but we stayed out dancing a few times before hitting the hotel.

The pipe bombs mentioned above were set behind transformers at the rear of the mall in a place to cause damage but not harm any people. The police report they were set to increase tension within the city.

On another note, I'm suppose to be leaving the last weekend of March for my next Thailand vacation but a very nice lady I know over there just received a VISA and has asked if she can come here and visit for the entire month of April. Decisions. Decisions.
The version I heard is that the bombs were placed behind a small building on the walkway from the skytrain station to the mezzanine entrance to the mall.

I'm routinely on that walkway, because I normally take the skytrain to get to that mall.

And I'm usually in that mall two or three times on every trip, because (a) the Siam Paragon Food Court has some GREAT low-cost dining options and (b) there's a BIG Kinokuniya Books branch in the mall, and I'm a hopeless bookaholic.

I was there the last week of January. Street vendors selling everything you can imagine were ubiquitous. I cannot verify club closing times because I dont stay out that late, but the clubs were what they have always been and the BJ bars, brothels and massage joints were never better. Enjoy your stay. To get laid, you pretty much just have to get out of bed in the morning.

I was there in Oct/Nov 2014. Yes the bars were closing around 2 am and everyone was moving out to the street bars. The street bars were like food courts serving beers and limited mixed drinks. Those would stay open until around 5 or they ran out of drinks whichever came first. That was the only real major change I noticed from before and after the coup.
