Cell phones, texting, SXSW, and hoein'

I have been hearing reports from barstaff and others that texts are queuing and dumping (IE no texts for hours and then 50 all at once)

If you are an escort or client this week and tend to keep exclusively to txts be aware that maybe you aren't being ignored but that the network is taxed. switching to voice calls might be a good idea, or and I know this is crazy; don't hump for a few days.

Article citing usage is up and ATT is Rolling out CoWs
I've been texting with someone in ATX this morning, all are immediate, I'm on AT&T.

I've pre set any visits this week...everything north until the downtown cluster fuck goes away.

I wonder is caused by the major solar flares...
If it's just problems with cell service, probably not. Solar flares big enough to whack the cell networks would foul up lots of other telecommunications and even power distribution.

Usage of these portable cell systems isn't that rare at big events like SxSW and the bigger music festivals.

I had a post where I guarded one of these units for a cell phone company that's not AT&T. Mosquitoes, stifling Texas heat, sweaty wanderers asking for directions, people parking in places that effectively blocked off access to service vehicles..

I wish I could go back. :-)
