Waterloo, DSM & QC info?

It's been awhile since I've toured DSM but I plan to return soon and possibly make first-time stops in Waterloo and QC..
I'm just looking for any updates on trouble areas or hotels I should avoid, best places to stay and any other things I should be aware of Especially in DSM! Thank you so much!
