Holy Crap that was close!!! Am I in any trouble?

OK. so i found someone on BP and texted and emailed "her" a few times.... when i googled the number it came up a a frequent local sting #.

The content of my emails from an anonymous (other name) email address was...
Is this Sally (YES SIR!)
Where are you? (No reply)
Are you close to downtown? (Downtown to wat?)
Do you like Greek? (NO!)
when i found out it was likely 5.0 i emailed
Sorry, i thought this was a dating site... my bad.

my texts all separate, but from my phone
Hi is this sally (yes)
Are you in round rock (yes)
Is it too late to call (no not at all)
I will call tomorrow? no reply
when i discovered it was likely 5.0...
i texted: Sorry, i thought this was someone else.

The question is... am i in any sort of trouble here? I made no mention of doing anything or compensation... the worst thing is asking about greek, but that could be anything Right...?

I am sure this is nothing... but god am i paranoid but thankful for GOOGLE

Mysteriously... The offending ads are all gone, but needless to say, off BP for life.

Anyone else have this sort of close call? anything come from it?

First off - Get yourself a hobby phone or at least a hobby number. (Google Voice)
Then remember this and always do your research BEFORE calling/texting someone.

I'll let the members that actually practice law answer the question of rather or not you need to worry about anything of the legal nature.

First, I'm not a lawyer, just someone that has been reading things that "supposed" lawyers have written on here, so you have to take this with a grain of salt and if you get questioned by LE, keep your mouth shut, don't offer any info or explanation, and call a lawyer because no matter what you say, they are probably going to arrest you anyway or they wouldn't be there talking to you.

Basically, you did mention something that when calling a escort/LMT/Dating site number asking about an acronym of something that is well known in this world. From what I have read, asking them, "Do you do Island Trips", or something similar could also constitute a proposition of sex. Same thing with any of the other acronyms. Don't ask them if they like or do TUMA, DATY, CIM, etc. You don't ask them specifics until after, or during your first date once you know they aren't LE, and then only face to face.

When calling a BP #, or any escorts #, you don't mention specific sex questions, even with acronyms, period. You never know if a number is tapped, etc., and if it isn't a regular for you, it could be LE like this one was by your description of the search for the number. At least you did a little research first.

Unless you like the thrill and danger of possibly getting robbed, killed, arrested, or ending up with a dripping, flesh eating diseased penis, stay off BP.

There are a few lawyers (they say) in this forum and some in my areas forum that post a lot and $ does NOT have to be mentioned to get arrested. They say that just walking into the room will get you busted because they do have evidence against you because you called the number of an escort on BP, or wherever. Either way, you knew what she does.

They also say, "You have the right to remain silent, so use it." The donut squad is not the judge or jury and they will/can arrest anybody who walks through that door and you will have to let the judge decide.

Whether those guys are lawyers or not, I do believe what they are saying. Also, don't assume that a cop can't touch you or let you touch them, they are collecting as much evidence as they can. Don't assume anything except that you are taking a chance. You are on eccie now, stay off BP, do your research on here, read reviews, ask questions, etc. Be as Safe as you can.

My texts (trackable) were literally just are you near main street and is this sally.
My emails, (less trackable i hope) were where i asked do you like greek? but i never said anything remotely like rates for greek?

FYI, texts and emails are trackable. They just have to (supposedly) have a warrant. I host customers websites and email accounts. I will NOT divulge any of that info to anyone unless they have a warrant.

With a warrant, they can ping your phone and find out where you are if it has GPS that is on. They can triangulate your position with the cel towers if it doesn't have GPS. Emails, unless there is spoofed data in them, have a list of IP's to track it back to you or to your service where they can issue a warrant for more info.

I'm not saying that they would spend that kind of money or do those things just to catch one little "John" but don't think they can't. Also, turning off your phone doesn't mean they can't track you. You would at least need to take the battery out, which I have seen at least one person on here says he does when he is not actively using that phone. Or use the phone once and throw it away. That gets kind of expensive though.

Yeah everything I am reading says that they need more intent, something more solid like me suggesting she participate in the act, a meet up and then compensation. Its just not enough for me to ask about an act without asking rates.

Oh and as an FYI, My young son was SWATTED once through a Skype random number and the person was caught. In case you don't know what SWATTED is, it is when someone calls the police and says something that will get the swat team mobilized to waste their time, money, etc. In my son's case, they called the police, said that he was home alone, they saw someone lurking around the house, heard my son screaming and heard gunshots. Especially when a child is involved, they get the swat team out for that. There was at least 20 cops coming the area because of that.

They told us that if it was an isolated incident, they probably wouldn't spend the money and manpower to track the person down and we should just take it as a prank call, one that scared the hell out of my son when cops came pounding on the door with guns drawn. In this case, apparently the person was doing it a lot in this area so they tracked his number to a CA number, found it was a Skype number, got federal warrants and found the person. I think they said that it was a minor doing it. That's all we know.

So, Reading DOZENS of examples and nothing seems to fall on what i did. Since no time money or place has been discussed, there's zero intent and what i did online is "dirty talking" at worst and the 5-0 would have their hands full if they tried tracking that down. The online sting is to draw you out, catch you in the act. lewd discussions online are not illegal.

They don't need more intent to arrest you. They might need more to make it stick though, but the cops just arrest and gather evidence, the judge makes that call. You call a publicized escort number and walk through her door or let her walk through yours and that is all the intend they need to arrest you. And if you don't have a lawyer, you will probably not be able to talk your way out of it with the judge. And again, (trying to say this nicely) you don't have to ask about rates especially if the rates were already mentioned in her ad, you asked about a specific act (GREEK) to a someone that you knew was a prostitute. I'm not sure what about that you don't understand.
