Child Support: When does it end?

strongbad's Avatar
Okay, the last of strongbad's spawns have reached 18 and graduated h.s. I've looked over my divorce settlement and I think I'm finished legally having to make payments but not sure. Any idea how much it would cost me to have Matlock look at it for me?

Usually it is at 18, unless you agreed to still support the spawn thru college.

"(1) until the child is 18 years of age or until graduation from high school, whichever occurs later ....

There are specific requirements for "attendance" and "schooling" to get the additional support until high school graduation.

Sec. 154.002. CHILD SUPPORT THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION.

I agree the shallow grave would have been much cheaper but believe me, this bitch would have found a way to dig herself out....
