AMARILLO TX NEED HELP?????Ç

Can anyone give me some good advice on what area to get a room in. This is my first time here and I really don't know what's a good area and where's the bad areas to stay away from. I appreciate any help I can get.

The nicer hotels are on I-40 west of downtown, by and large.
