What did I see along the interstate today?

I went to whole foods today and as I was driving on interstate 435 East, I noticed a tall white pole with something attached to it and it was turning. It was sitting on the left hand side of the interstate. When I first saw it afar off, I thought it was a ferris wheel. It was a mile from the state line rd. exit. Can someone tell me what I saw? I have never seen anything like it before.

Thanks,
Juliette

Windmill. Not sure if it is still there but that used to be the Applebee's Headquarters.

That's exactly what it looked like. This is a different type of windmill that I am used to seeing. I am very familiar with the round circular ones. Thanks for taking the time to explain.

Hugs,
Juliette

I don't know, You sure it isn't Wind Turbine? Heck, it turns when the wind blows so does that make all providers Wind Turbine/Generator/Mills? Or is the providers that are the Wind and the men that are the other?
It's a VAWT, Vertical Axis Wind Turbine. Your more familiar with a HAWT, or Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine. VAWTS are unique in that they can turn and generate electricity in any direction, including up or down. The downside is that it builds up resistance on the opposite end of the airflow, or most often on the downward motion of the scoops. Which is why the designers built in the tail fin to rotate the scoops in the direction of the strongest winds.
Wow thanks. Here I am searching for pussy, and I actually just learned something. This site has lots of variety, thank GOD.
