ISO a Handyman in Hawkins Tx area. ( Fair Price )

I am looking for help with a project in the Hawkins Tx area. I need a handyman.

This is the project.

I have a friend that lives in that area and she has a 12 by 16 storage building she is trying to make into a tiny home. She is lost and has no idea what to do or where to start. I am helping her as much as I can and giving her what materials I can but I need help. I think she needs to add another 8 by 16 ft to make it more liveable. I need help cause I am not sure how to do the floor joist and ceiling beams. I am not expecting anyone to just help for free but hoping to find someone that can send me a name that will help for a fair price.

The lady is about 48 and no she is nt an escort and she does nt know I escort. I am just helping her cause I know what it is like to need help. She needs a home nt a storage building. She is sleeping with her granddaughter in the twin bed. She really has no help and when I found out what was going on I have offered to help her and found her what materials I can. I can get what wood I need for the add on so that is nt the problem. I need man power.

If anyone knows anyone please let me know. This is nt for me but someone that is truly in need of having her building into a home. She is having surgery in a few weeks and I was hoping to get this done so I can go back to my other projects and working. I know some may think I am crazy for jumping out to help her but I know what it is like to need help. I know what it is like to just want a home.

Thanks for reading have a great week. Hugs Taylor

I am not a lazy person so I do not expect anyone to just do all the work.

She is already to far in debt to have the building picked up and take a lost. I wish I would have known she was getting this and I would have encouraged a travel trailer but it is too late for that so now I am helping.

Size wise a 12" X 16" is small but sufficient, the first thing you need to come up with a floor plan that will fit within the existing space (think of an efficiency apartment or dorm room). The next biggest challenge would most probably be the plumbing if she intend to have running water with sanitary sewer (that is going to pretty much require a plumber). Electrical would be the next hurtle and may requite an electrician depending on how you plan on acquiring power. The framing, insulation and finish are probably the easiest parts after the rest has been figured. Good luck and nice to see people helping someone in need.
Taylor you are so sweet!
Thanks guys. Well I did find some help. I talked to a friend of 20 yrs and he said sure I will help. He is helping me Saturday and then unless things change helping me Sunday work on the house I am tearing down. I know some may think I couldn't do this but I do know a lot but adding on is something I so need help with cause anyone can put boards up but making sure it is safe and all is important. I have almost all the materials I will just need a few items. I am hoping we do nt have to buy much. I know the tiny house ( 12 by 16 ) would have worked for a small home but just adding another 8 by 16 will make it more comfortable for her. If it is possible to do it now then it is better cause sometimes things happen and it never gets done. Thanks to all that read the post and have a great week. Stay cool.

I know some may think I haven't thought this through but I have the following. Shower pan but may replace with a tub. bathroom sink, medicine cabinet with a mirror, toilet, osb, boards for the walls and ceilings, wiring for water heater, stove, and add on. I have blocks and pads for add on, kitchen counter and sink, and windows. I know there are some items I will need but over all I have it all. I even know what we need to do. I just so needed someone that could help me with the add on. My neighbor is so busy he couldn't spare his time but he had faith in me more then I had in myself. He said I can do it. Well glad some believe in me.

Later all hugs.

Taylor, above is a small guide to house framing tips. It has six pages but is fairly informative. If you need i can supply links for electrical and plumbing state codes. With the limited space, a shower would be better than a tub. When the time comes for electrical and plumbing, lemme know. Im too far away to come help, but spent a number of years doing this kind of work and will provide what intel i can. I agree with Hunter, making a floor plan is a very important step. Itll help you fully utilize space, and planning to put the facilities near each other will help eliminate excessive wiring and piping. If i get any time off ill see if i can head that way, but time off is rare...if you have paypal or something i wouldnt mind chipping in. Helping people is something i believe in strongly.
I appreciate the info. Yes a shower would probably be better but now that my friend is going to help me add on I can make one the bed and bathroom and the other the kitchen and living room. Yes having the kitchen and bathroom and water heater all close together will help with plumbing. I have some wire from my home that I can use. I have played with the numbers over and over and had it all figured out. I go down to drop off the toilet and shower pan a last week and remeasured the length and knew it was shorter then she told me. I was like damn 2ft we need 5 feet. At first she told me 12 by 18 so I was making house plans for it then remeasured and it is 12 by 16 so I went back to making plans. I know some may think just leave it a 12 by 16 don't add on but it really will nt cost that much. I already have a lot of material and I am good at finding stuff on craigslist or this other site on facebook. I have so much going on that I just need to get it done. I know it will be getting cooler and with things at home to do and the house in Grand Saline I need to finish tearing down and all it will be winter time before long.

I have learned a lot from my Dad he is old school. He had to learn a lot of traits but there are somethings nt sure about so my friend can do frame up work and all. The plumbing and electric work will nt be that hard. I have the wire we need. The hardest part of the plumbing will be digging the ditch but hooking up lines and all is really simple. I know some think I am over my head but I really do know stuff. I have installed flooring, windows, doors, and toilet.

I love finding old stuff I can use. I have found for my own home so many things. I love antiques or some antiques. A lot of the craftsmanship in old stuff is so detailed and some of the stuff is so well made. I even found some plywood that is over 40 yrs old that we are using. I am getting me some redwood out of the house in Grand Saline and some 12 inch tongue and groove knotty pine wood. I hate to see stuff trashed that can still be used.

I guess we should do before and after pics for people. Hugs have a great day.
I am almost done with the tiny home ( 12 by 16 ) right now. I will like about another day then porches and the add on but that isn't a rush job. I found a couple of guys that helped me with the ceiling some and my daughter has been helping me. Hope everyone has a great week. Hugs
You are an ambitious lady, good luck.
