Since I'm not even a hobbyist yet and the past couple of days I've done more talking and thinking about this than ever before I've started to think of a few things. Most of these are purely situational, opinionated questions and I'm not looking to start any arguments, just good banter I suppose.
Hobbyists;
1. How do you feel when you see an ad for a girl and she's used pictures that made her look flattering but in up close and personal you see all the things that weren't shown in the pictures? Do you ask for your money back? Go through with it and try and get it done and over with?
2. If you're meeting a girl for the first time are you likely to bring anything with you? A gift perhaps or is it the donation for the first time and if she becomes a regular then you bring gifts? Would a rose be a little much for someone's first time?
3. How do you overcome the nervousness? Or do you ever feel guilty about what you're about to do?
Providers;

What made you pick this type of "career" I guess is the best word to use, but one of my buddies g/f is a stripper and according to him at least she's one of those nympho types but if you talk about going into the escort business with her (she's pretty attractive btw) she gets grossed out. So what was the overcoming factor that made you NOT gross out
Again, this is just my curiosity being peaked and also just trying to get a better understanding of where everyone is coming from. Nobody is forcing anyone to answer but if you do I appreciate it if you don't then hope you enjoy reading it!

In my early 20s I was all about the hottest guy I could find. So pretty to look at and usually dreadful in bed. As I got a little older I started experimenting and "less than attractive" now has waaaaay less to do with a face/body and more to do with attitude. I am a lover of men.
And part of that allows me to be genuinely turned on by men who are maybe not traditionally attractive. And to be honest, six packs are nice and all but give me a man with a bit of a gut any time! Keeps me from flying off while on top lol.

They also tend to want more a porno/cum dumpster type deal. Which is not to say all of them by any means. I have seen a number of younger (under 30) men who were fun and sweet and made me feel just as good as the older guys do.

But I definitely wouldn't have had the confidence or skills earlier. As for the stripper thing? Even though a LOT of girls who dance talk shit on "whores" a lot of them also provide. So maybe she is just saying what bf wants to hear. Especially if she is a nympho. I'm sorry but if you call yourself sexually compulsive and then get picky you need to buy a dictionary

As far as nerves go I find contacting the girl to be the most intimidating part. I'm pretty shy though. If you've done the research part the nervousness will be over a few minutes after you actually meet.

You know how we're always warning each other not to let the thinking of the little head get in the way of the big head? Sometimes the opposite can be true. You can overthink it and psych yourself out. Like other guys are saying, do your research. Even without premium access, you can get a pretty good idea of what to expect from known providers. Pick a girl that makes you comfortable and see what you can get worked out. The right girl can get you past the nervousness.

On the OP questions (I'm fairly new to this as well)
1. Based upon research, you can pretty much avoid those that don't look anything like their pictures. Check into their review, look into www.tineye.com (great tool for help finding stolen pics).
2. Gifts, I've only done this on a repeat session.
3. Nervous - mostly when setting up the appointment and when I first get there. A quality provider can usually set those nerves aside quickly

I think flattering images should always be used haha... I mean, I've had women IRL send me a picture and then say something like "this is a bad picture of me but now you know what I look like." I usually wonder why they'd even bother sending it if it is such a poor representation of themselves. Back to the point though. I have gotten used to having X-Ray vision when it comes to pics. If a woman is always shooting pics from the same side/angle, I know she's hiding something. Now showing a particular body part/area then there is a reason for it... and I take that into consideration. Excessive post processing/skin smoothing (yes... it is obvious to the trained eye when it is done) then I go in expecting that. Having said that, I have yet to meet a provider who, when behind closed doors, wasn't what I was expecting in the looks department... wait, I take that back... there were two but they were within the boundaries of what I was looking for at the time and the service they provided during my time with them was quite good. So, no complaints.

But, as a guideline, I never bring anything which expresses a romantic interest. I've dated women who happened to be providers before, but I don't want a lady thinking that I'm looking for more when I'm not.

If I felt badly about what I was doing, then I wouldn't do it... or I would change my prespective on what I was doing so that I wouldn't feel badly about it. I like to play some Christian talk radio when I'm on route to a meeting with someone new... I haven't burst into flames yet...
And I find it relaxing.
