Gardasil 9 available at Amarillo Dept of Public Health

Just an FYI. Call it a public service announcement.

In my quest to get the Gardasil-9 vaccine, I've discovered that Gardasil-9 is available at the Amarillo Dept of Public Health.

(Gardasil-9 is the new version of Gardasil that covers the 9 most common HPV types. The old Gardasil only covered 4.)

Anyway they won't give it to a man over 26, so it doesn't help me, but I figure not everyone here is over 26, so hey, if you're 26 or younger, head on over to the Health Department and get your Gardasil-9 shot (actually a series of 3 shots).

They're at 1000 Martin Rd, 1 block N of E. Amarillo Blvd and N. Mirror St.
M-F 8-5.

I had a long telephone chat with a nurse at the city health dept above, and she was very sympathetic and essentially agreed with me that it was stupid, but she said that the health department goes strictly by the book and simply wasn't going to give it to anyone outside the recommended age window. It didn't matter that I was paying cash.

I have an appt with a new PCP soon. Hopefully he'll be amenable to giving me the shot if I'll pay out of pocket.
