Excellent Live Music In Corpus Christi This Weekend
South Texas Icehouse has some excellent Bands playing this weekend-Friday night November 13-Cody Canada & The Departed formerly Cross Canadian Ragweed, cover charge is $15. Austin Country Musician Dale Watson is playing Saturday night November 14, Local Rockabilly/Psychobilly Band Matt Hole & The Hot Rod Gang is opening for Dale Watson-cover charge $12. Dale Watson is The Real Deal-Dale plays Old School Hard Core Honky Tonk Country Music.
Vino Mio has the Palacios Bros playing Friday night November 13. The Palacios Bros from Hebronville, Texas are excellent musicians. They play a lot of their gigs in Austin & San Antonio. The Palacios Bros used to play at Dr. Rockits a lot over the past several years. The Palacios Bros play blues, rock, country & can also play Tejano/Conjunto. They were on the Domingo Show several weeks ago playing some Tejano/Conjunto music. The Palacios Bros won the Austin Blues Society Blues Competition last year-2014 & played at the National Blues Competition in Memphis January 2015. The Palacios Bros made it to the Quarter Finals before they were eliminated.
Delio, the oldest brother-bass player/lead singer is also a bad ass accordion player. I love Tejano/Conjunto/Norteno accordion based music. I have seen the Palacios Bros quite a few times at the old Dr. Rockits & 2 months ago at Vino Mio. Delio & Bryan-lead guitar player know me by name & know that I am the loco Gringo that always asks Delio to play the accordion. Marcel the youngest brother is the drummer.
I will be going to see the Palacios Bros Friday night & Dale Watson/Matt Hole & The Hot Rod Gang Saturday night.
I actually remember hearing the Palacios Bros on the Domingo show. You're about Delio's accordin abilities. He is very good.
I am supposed to be leaving town Thursday or Friday to go back to work. Will depend on what I do this weekend, however if I do go see a band it won't have an accordion lol. Maybe a Stratocaster.
Brian the middle brother of the Palacios Bros plays a white Fender Strat. Delio the oldest brother is 29, Brian the middle brother is mid 20's, Marcel the drummer/youngest brother is in his early 20's. They are Buddies with Reno Perez. Their Dad Delio Baby Red Palacios was a Professional Boxer back in the 1980's. I have seen some Facebook Pictures taken at a club in San Antonio of Reno Perez with the Palacios Bros & Papa Delio. Reno & Papa Delio are both holding one of their fists up in a fighting posture. I met & talked with Papa Delio 2 months ago at Vino Mio, he is several years younger than me-early 50's. Papa Delio is a very cool dude who is very proud of his kid's musical accomplishments. The Palacios Bros have played at San Antonio Spurs Games at Halftime on a regular basis, University of Texas San Antonio Football Games on a regular basis.
I had a great weekend of seeing some Excellent Live Music. I went to Vino Mio Friday night & saw the Palacios Bros-excellent blues & rock music. Delio the oldest brother-bass player/lead singer played the accordion on two songs. Delio is an accordion slinger ie a bad ass accordion player. Delio gave me one of their new CDs Hermanos Palacios El Principio-Tejano/Conjunto Music.
I went to South Texas Icehouse Saturday night & saw Austin, Texas Country Musician/Band Dale Watson & The Lone Stars. Local Corpus Christi Rockabilly/Psychobilly Band Matt Hole & The Hot Rod Gang opened up for Dale Watson. Matt Hole & The Hot Rod Gang put on an excellent show, they are one of my Favorite Corpus Bands.
Dale Watson & The Lone Stars put on an Excellent Show. Dale Watson & The Lone Stars are The Real Deal & play Old School Hard Core Honky Tonk Country Music. The Lone Stars have a stand up electric bass player, drummer, pedal steel guitar player & Dale Watson playing a Fender Telecaster-the National Guitar of Real Deal Country Bands. The Fender Telecaster guitar has that twangy tone/sound made Famous by Buck Owens & the Buckaroos with their dual Fender Telecaster guitar players with their twangy tone/sound-Bakersfield California Country Sound in the 1960's.
Dale Watson & The Lone Stars played at the Executive Surf Club 10+ years ago in December on a week night about a week before Christmas. It was very cold on the outdoor patio venue at the Surf Club-colder than the proverbial witches titties in a brass bra. My buddy & I went to the Surf Club to see Dale Watson, there were probably around 15 people that showed up including us. Dale Watson & the Lone Stars put on an excellent show for such a piss poor turnout. Dale Watson had not been back to play a gig in Corpus Christi for 10+ years until they played at South Texas Icehouse.
