Another example of fuc'd up priorities. Coldcase has proved itself again and again and they can't find funding for it.
But look for the interview with Deputy Chief Masters towards the end. Something he said about vice resources got my attention. I knew something or someone was funding KC's (Overland Park, Lenexa and Olathe too) vice operations over the past couple of years but I wouldn't have thought the money would have come from the FBI's Violent Crimes Initiative. VCI is supposed to be focused on violent gangs, crimes of violence, and the apprehension of violent fugitives. Dispersement of VCI funds is up to the local FBI field office so I guess they've determined that escorting in the KC area is a violent crime.
Just plain idiotic.
So, simple solution, give up maybe one armored car and a rapid response unit, cut a few flack vests, night vision goggles and military carbines out of the budget. A-holes probably would'nt even have to do that. Cut out three vice cops and use the funds for Coldcase. Problem solved!
