Uber anybody?

Thumbs up or down?

Just curious...
I SA? Thumbs down. It easily takes 20 min to get one from, where in other cities, you get one within 5 min of requesting it. Plus, here, it is just as expensive as a cab, when I find that, in most places, it is a more affordable choice.

It is nice to have additional transportation options.

However...

Review your credit card statements very carefully.

There have been multiple reports in multiple locales of some serious price gouging.

But if an uber driver were to offer a ride to couples, with no questions asked, if he/she had a privacy shield, that might be a thing.

Or an uber ride where the ride includes a girl.

O the possibilities.
Many Providers & Hobbiests use Uber up here in DFW area. Many guys love it especially when you have gals & pimps who like to take pics of cars and record plate numbers.
I have had many guys get me an Uber to get to my outcalls....drivers are nice and I like it because there is no money exchanged on my end so they don't know how much I am carrying

I use uber a lot here in S.A. I typically have a ride within 5-10 minutes depending on the time of day and traffic. I'm also aware of surge pricing and avoid that like the plague. But it's much faster, friendlier, and a lot cheaper than the cabbies here in town that live downtown, airport, and medcenter. I always enter addresses and so there is no confusion on route or fare.

On a personal note. I have waited hours for cabs that never showed to only find out later that they don't pick up from certain bars or clubs.... I don't have this problem with UBER ever. Longest I've ever waited for an Uber was 15 minutes, and that was during rush hour traffic.

Thumbs up. Usually they're cheaper than taxis, don't have to call them multiple times like I've had to do with taxis, and if they suck, you can rate them accordingly, not likely to happen though since them getting a low rating will affect how much business they'll get. Lyft is also in San Antonio now as well. You may wait a bit longer but the convenience factor is worth waiting a few more minutes.

Uber and Lyft are cool!

I never use it much in SA because in SA people drive, a lot more in my opinion than in Austin.

In Austin I have used and loved using Uber and Lyft, and I've even become friends with some drivers.

I've been using uber and lyft lately and I used to be a driver for them both and it really is a faster and cheaper service. After a few rides you get one free. Its nice to have something to rely on other than buses that make several stops before yours. Cabs aren't discrete they're yellow, stamped and not cost efficient versus a vehicle that is newer, nicer and comes with treats like soda, water and candy ! YUM
