I'm not big on BBQ seems that's all around where ever you go
I'm really a simple eater and like many other types of food
FOOD
1. good old hamburger with the fixings
2. Vege's
3. Italian
4. Sushi
5. American food
6 Mexican / tacos and such
7. Thai
Good ole hamburger:
Town Topic - 20th and Broadway
Westport Flea Market - Westport Rd
In the Northland:
Hayes Hamburger - Vivian and Antioch
(24 hrs which is very handy)
Granted, Town Topic and Hayes are both hole in the wall places.
Italian:
Garozzo's - 5th and Harrison. I know that whole neighborhood. They also have branches in OP and LS.
Lidia's - 22nd and Baltimore (excellent date place)
In the Northland:
Cascone's - 37th and North Oak.
Amusingly I didn't plug a single place on the plaza.
And I did leave out a place in OP and a couple off to the east.
Sushi: Jun's. In a strip mall off state line rd south of 75th. IMHO the best in the city. Nara downtown is excellent as well.
Mexican: so many great options. Los Tules downtown on Broadway is one of the best. Several great options in KCK but considering where they are I'd stick to them for lunchtime options.
Negro League Baseball Museum, WW 1 Museum, Union Station and the Train museum, The Glore Psychiatric Museum in Saint Joseph Missouri, the Jesse James house in Saint Joseph Missouri, and the Truman Library are all places worth visiting.
if you do not mind throw some extra$$ just once in a while, I would suggest go to crab shack and get two buckets of legs.
