Meet & Greets

Does Kansas City ever have hobby meet and greets? It's been several years since I've attended one, but it was a lot of fun.

Any upcoming meet and greets? I'd be interested in attending!
n00b question: What's a meet and greet in the hobby?

Very rare. Very small. Never posted.
On occasion, usually just a bar tab, sometimes there's live music.
I don't know if I'd actually call these m&g though, but that does happen.

Mina:
Hobby folks that implicity trust each other, that have known each other for a while, or get vouched by those that do, go civie and hang out. And folks that have common friends get introduced by those friends.

One of the Texas guys is well know for setting those up down in Texas.
He has posted rules that are common elsewhere.
i started hobbying over in CO many moons ago and LOVED these. They were very small and always only word of mouth - off the boards. But it was a great way for providers to introduce dates they trusted to their friends. Was an awesome way to set up doubles and to meet other providers. Would love to see this idea gain some ground in other cities - really is a nice way to get safe and comfortable hobbying going...

We had these fairly regularly in Utah and they were always a lot of fun. It definitely helps you decide if you want to meet certain people. Some ads and showcases you see and they look great but you realize you don't have a connection in person and vice versa. Fun times.
Sounds like they could be fun. I hope they get a revitalization.
The last one I attended was in Biloxi, MS at a casino bar several years ago.

Two local ladies organized it and announced on Eccie that there was an "upcoming M & G," but no specific date or location was given. If you were interested in attending, you were to just private message either of the two ladies. They responded with the specifics after you were approved.

It was a great opportunity to meet the personalities behind the handles… Surprising how many people are the exact opposite of what they portray on the internet. Very interesting, and definitely a lot of fun! I wish they were more common nowadays!

First rule of meet and greets is don't talk about meet and greets... Second rule of meet and greets... Bring money.

I'd go to one. I think it would be a great way to narrow the maybe list to yes and no. I hope I get invited! Otherwise it's just

Did those out in Colorado, good time. Doubt it does or ever will happen here...this just isn't a great hobby town. It's okay just not great or large enough

We used to host regular socials, but it became a real hassle. Some people were really indiscreet. Ladies showed up to a local bar&grill wearing lingerie, guys brought unscreened ladies, people got drunk and loud... it was a mess (but fun, if you ignored the looks from the rest of the customers...)

Some of our best M&Gs were held at a hotel bar. They were casual and intimate and a terrific way to meet a bunch of local providers (and for providers, meet clients). The problems came when the group started to get too large for the space, plus we had some people who weren't thrilled about paying hotel bar prices for drinks and appetizers, and then there were guys who didn't want to be seen going into a hotel in their home town.

We had some great events at bars, but guys always complained about the locations ("too far north", "too public", "too crowded") and no one could agree on the best place to meet. We always had people asking us what kind of a group we were. I mean, mostly older guys hanging in a group with a bunch of young, hot, flirty ladies? We used to make up all kinds of stories for the servers. All in all, it was really suspicious. We also had issues with what people wanted from the M&Gs. Some people just wanted to sit and chat and meet each other. But then others wanted to PARTY and do body shots and lap dances.

After organizing a bunch of these, I am of the firm opinion that it should be the ladies putting events like this together. Ladies have MUCH more experience screening the guys. They also know where they would feel comfortable, and can arrange the event to their liking. Also, if guys are going to have to pay to attend (to cover the rent of the space or other costs), they are more willing to pay a lady than a dude.
