Advice from mongers - Chang Mai

spaceman181's Avatar
Making my second trip to Thailand in September. I will spend about 5 days in Bangkok, but am determined to go to Chiang Mai for about 5 days, as well. Any advice for a place to stay there that is guest friendly would be appreciated.

I stayed at the Puripunn Baby Grand. It's a boutique hotel (small), but very nice. Don't know if it's guest friendly.
Raming Lodge Hotel and Spa.

I stayed there and it is guest friendly.

Problem is, Chiang Mai is absolutely horrid when it comes to mongering.

Then again it all depends on your personal taste. I prefer hot, young, go go types comparable to what you would find in Bangkok and you won't find that in Chiang Mai. However, if you like the beer bar darker maid looking chicks then It will be right up your alley.

Recommend Agoda.com and read the reviews, some are very informative.

Get a sim card from AIS (best phone carrier), make sure your phone has 3G band 1 (2100 Mhz)

Put the app on your phone, pay only when on 3G never wifi.

Chiang Mai hasn't been a good place to monger for many years, Bangkok or Pattaya are the places to be.

If you make it up to Chiang Rai, the Wiaing Inn Hotel has a massage parlor in the same building. Plus you can go see the White Temple Wat Rong Khun.

Lots of massage parlors in Khorat, Nakhom Ratchasima, Eastern Thailand, but English is not near as popular.
If your phone doesn't have the Thai GSM band, a basic flip phone (without SIM) will set you back maybe US$30 or so at MBK in Bangkok. I've had one for years. It is so old it thinks that the current year is invalid, and I have to play with it to find a year that will match the current year calendar days.

Other than that, it works fine, and I don't WANT a smartphone.
I been to Chiangmai a few times always a fun time!! Le Meridien is where I have stayed never had a problem bring guest. Staff really helpful and nice! I'll be there in September as well

Where do you look for the "guests", tho?
There are many more options in Chaing Mai than some might think. The Bars along Loi Kroh all have FL,many of the Massage shops can have hidden gems, a few Soapies are nearby, been to CelebX a few times.

I checked out massage places in Chiang Mai, because i didn't have a place to host.

Thiese are the ones I tried in order of overall score (quality/# of girls/price):
1. Ping Payom - had several good looking ones
2. Pandora - had one good looking one
3. Celebration - had two decent ones
4. Sayuri - had two decent looking ones

I hope to go back to this nice city another time and see the FL scene and try actual dating. If you are looking for mongering, however, Bangkok, Pattaya, or Phuket are much better.
