Socials?

It seems that I have either heard or read about "socials" for lack of a better term for both providers and hobbyists. If true, how are members notified?

They are private affairs, and not endorsed by eccie. If you know dungeons that hosts, you may be invited. Some others are a little more public but for safety, that's rare.
