so would it be a bad idea to visit during the off season? what is the difference between on and off.

Just as good as the dry season IMO. There may be less girls but there will be less guys too. Buyer's market. There is no bad time to visit except easter or xmas week. I am not a big fan of crowds so I prefer it during the wet season.

Bring a raincoat ( that's not a metaphor).
I am about to head down in June. I hear it's slow business from some of my amigas I keep in touch with. There are still plenty of girls on the weekends but prices should be better or easier to nego.
I want to visit during the summer. so the weather is rainy? also what are the places to go? san jose? jaco?
I would say Jaco is still the better place. More adventure type shit to do during the day. Ziplines, white water rafting atv tours, fishing etc. It rains for an hour a day between 4-7 from what I am told the wet season has already started.
ok. what month in the summer would be best? june? july? august?
June or August is best, July is holiday month for the ticas
From what I am told the later it gets in summer the more and longer it rains. By September it's raining all day everyday sometimes.
thanks guys. trying to make my first trip out there and want it to be good.
The end of August is my favorite time in Jaco. Late afternoon and evening rain but cooler then. The heavy all day and night rains start around sept 20th trough 15th of November

Hydro that's a fact, I just got back from Jaco and had one hell of a time.
Dfrm I need to give you a call so I can hear about the fun. I leave in two weeks and can't stay still.
nice. can i just go to san jose and then get a ride to jaco? ive looked into el del rey hotel
The del day is getting to be an older hotel. I personally wouldn't stay at ground zero in San Jose or jaco but that's just me. You can catch the bus down to jaco and it will take 3 hours but runs around $30. A private cab is 100 and takes an hour. There is a free shuttle if you stay at a certain hotel in San Jose. I forgot the name of it though. Its one of the more well known monger hotels. Check out costa rica ticas and it should be on there.
