Buffalo trip!!

Guys, I have a trip to buffalo in the works, and I need hotel suggestions. Is downtown a better location or somewhere in the suburbs? I've never been to buffalo, so I definitely need some suggestions as to where to go, and where to stay away from, lol.
Personally, I think downtown is kind of annoying. The lack of parking, the busy atmosphere, if it's a weekend there's going to be a lot of people drinking and partying on Chippewa and Allen. From what I've heard, avoid the 290 & Niagara Falls Blvd area.
My advice would be somewhere in Amherst area, near the UB north campus off of Millersport.

Ask Faith28...she comes here often. But do it via PM, it's safer that way.
You can spend one of the nights at the hobby mansion....
Thank you guys!!! Do you recommend the city of buffalo or one of the surrounding towns or cities?
I would prefer a hotel with either direct access to my room, or a side entrance. I stayed at a hotel in Newburg that had small individual buildings with 4 rooms in them. They all had separate entrances with a porch. There were three rows of houses with probably 10 houses In each row, with walkways throughout. There were parking lots on the left and right, and one in the back with a walkway directly to the room. It was a loft suite with a full kitchen and dining room, two bedroom and two bath. I'm going to be coming out there with a girlfriend so something like that would be ideal, that way we could each rent a room in the same building. I can't for the life of me remember the name of the hotel, but it was a really nice, private, and clean place. Plus it was really nice to have a personal bedroom and bathroom.
I believe the general consensus would be to avoid the city. The airport area is convenient to most in the Buffalo area. Unfortunately, I'm not aware of any lodging that is like the one you described. The Residence Inns may have outside entrances.

That's OK, I figured they wouldn't have anything like that out there anyways lol. I just figured I would try for something where my company didn't have to walk through the lobby, as I know that deters some gents. I'll have to browse around and see what the best option would be in that specific area.

...and the Residence inns are the ones similar to the ones your describing. There's on on Maple I believe.
There's two around I think that's the one with separate buildings and apts.

YES, YES, Pick that one! It's about two miles from my office.
You guys are seriously the best!! XOXO

I have a certain hotel in mind for this coming trip, but this might become a biweekly thing dependant on how well this trip goes. If I come out there again, I will definitely keep that hotel in mind Davie.
Good info!....
