I can do just about anything else except that. I am sure it is a easy fix somewhere but I need someone to help me fix it. I am leaving town tue night any guys want to barter a session to fix my baby.

I love my laptop but I can not load up skype or yahoo msg on it,

Try uninstalling the programs and then reinstall them. Also they might be outdated when you uninstall go to the websites and redownload the newest one. When you have a bunch of time ( like most if the day or before you go to bed ) click the start button and in the search type defrag and run that program.

First and foremost, I'd need to know if it's a PC or Mac. For some reason, most providers I know have Macs (go figure). But yea, that's a big piece of info to know since that changes how you'd install/uninstall the programs.
Also, did they run before? Did you download a recent update before they stopped working? Did both programs stop working at the same time or a separate times?
If they stopped at the same time, it may be a virus or trojan. If they stopped at different times, they were most likely badly downloaded updates (they are automatic sometimes).
Be sure you've got an antivirus to eliminate the possibility of a virus and then try the uninstall/reinstall routine.

I got the problem fixed temporally till I can get my cd drive fixed (hint hint)
So I can download either vista or a newer program. Right now I have windows xp. Well either call me let me know if you can help. I might be able to work something out for a couple (2) sessions for a new laptop. Just a thought.

Vista is not a program..it's an operating system. Yahoo messenger still works on XP.Try dowloading the executable and saving it to someplace (my documents) and closing out all other programs and doing an install.
