Telluride

Telluride, it's been called the new Aspen Colorado, but without the 200k door fees, invite only special handshake crap, secret clubs. Rich people are investing, what gives?

Any insight helps feel free to pm me.

I really know nothing of these secret handshakes, but I do know that they have an awesome festival scene that I do love participating in

In the late 1970's Telluride was being touted as the hipster alternative to the hopelessly commercialized (ridiculously expensive) Aspen.
Lived near there for a few years in late 90's and early 2000's. If you only had a couple million to spend you went there, as Aspen billionaires pushed out the poor with only a couple million discretionary. Became a celebrity hideout w/ Oprah, Gen. Schwarzkopf, Val Kilmer, etc. until Tom Cruise showed up. Crazy little airport let private jets in weather permitting, but 1 hour commute from nearest airport otherwise.

Sony executive bought it, added acres and acres of groomers, as it is known for it's extremely steep terrain. They started marketing heavily discounted excursions around the country to generate revenue, but the first timers were so obnoxious (drinking at that altitude is entertaining to say the least) the celebs hated the crowds.

Madame X is correct about the festivals. Summer brings in the Blowgrass.. er Bluegrass Festival which is worth the visit. The best places are very pricey, you know.... to filter the rift raft.
