I've been thinking about this alot. For everyones protection, do you think it would be wise for providers to carry the HIV saliva testing kit and require all clients to take the test prior to the appointment?
I know the clients "require" us to do BBBJ. I don't want this to get into a percentage debate about the risks of BBBJ. But there are risks, no doubt. So do you think it would be feasible for providers to come over 30 minutes prior to the scheduled appointment (OFF THE CLOCK) and have the client take the saliva test? Is this something providers would be willing to do, IF the cost of those tests were cheaper?? Currently $30 per test online
What if the cost of the test was $3 or $5?? Would we all be carrying the test aroound (along with additional protection) prior to appointment?
Do you think this would make the entire community safer? I mean, we all want to be safe.
Maybe someday clinics would give those kits out to providers for free. A pipe dream I know. But I've been wondering about this and would like to know what you think.....
