I watched this today during lunch, and he tried his best to be the Statesman.
He succeed in many points, but in two major points, he failed.
The first is when he pontificated about how a open and free press was essential to a Democratic Republic. It is the Press who is supposed to be the watchdog, the Press is suppose to tell the Public the truth of what our Leaders are up too. We even give the Press a special place in Our Constitution so they can be unfettered.
But what happens when the vast majority of the "Press" back one political persuasion, and overwhelmingly are in the pocket of one political Party?
What happens when the "Press" totally ignores the criminal activity and lies of a particular candidate simply because that candidate is of the same Political Party as they, and it is left to a clandestine Internet Entity to get to the truth, and report it?
That is not "The Press". That is Pravda.
The President's second failing was when a reporter asked him point blank about the growing number of Democrats who were not attending President Elect Trumps Inaugration. This is particularilly in light of the pronouncements by Him and Hillary Clinton on this matter of accepting the results of the election, regardless of the outcome.
Of course, this was back when nobody gave President Elect Trump a snowballl's chance in hell of winning.
President Obama had a chance here to be a real Statesman, and remind his Party Members of his and Hillary's words just several months ago.
But his answer was....."I'm not commenting on that".
Party first, Country second. How else can you take his answer.
