MOVING.....NEED FURNITURE

Hello Everyone,

GREAT NEWS I've finally found a house rent (Don't worry its still in the KC Metro Area) But I have no furniture... Top priority is obviously some sort of bedroom set and some seating in the living room/ a coffee table but I'll need everything else in the near future too... I just figured I would check and see if anyone has any of these items they are looking to get rid of and also just wanted to let everyone know the good news about me finally finding a more permenant residence in KC.
REGARDING FURNITURE PLEASE SEND ME A PM IF YOU HAVE ANYTHING THANK YOU
Glad to hear you found a new place!!!

Craigslist is a good place for furniture.

be selective if getting used padded furniture or mattresses. you don't want someone else s critters coming home with you that will cost you a pile of money to get rid of!

Bed bugs can actually live in/on wooden furniture as well. They will burrow into the crevices of the furniture. They prefer cushions because it's easier for them to make a home, but they're very well adapted critters, they can survive in almost anything. They can actually live up to 6 months without feeding.
But that's enough about bed bug education, the thought of them make my skin crawl, lol. When I got my very 1st place, I didn't have any furniture & I was very skeptical of buying used furniture for that very reason. I bought some stuff from Wal Mart to start off because it's cheap & unused. Over time I slowly upgraded to better furniture.
Honestly, you take more of a risk of getting critters from hotels than you ever would from used furniture. If you must get used furniture, I would suggest setting it outside & spraying it down with bed bug & flea spray, let it sit outdoors for 24 hours, then move it inside.

NEVER get a used mattress, period.

Still working on my own place but a double thick, queen size air mattress works pretty good for the price. Unless you have a cat.... It should give you a few months service for a small investment. Working on one...that I don't know.

I actually had my SO build me a platform bed for half the price of what the stores charge...maybe have a family member or friend make you one

If you go to flea markets, you can find great deals that you can redo to your liking
Lots of organizations can help. Catholic charities is great. Thrift stores can be amazing! Call to be sure they sell furniture and get there 5 min before they open. Good stuff goes fast!
The Dollar Store is always a good place to start. Then there's any one of the Project ReStore shops in town for decorations and such. For good, cheap furniture, IKEA works well, but be sure you've got plenty of time to put it together. That shit's a bitch!
Great deals at Nebraska Furniture Mart!

If the furniture is outside for a couple of days in below freezing weather, that should freeze any foreign bodies lurking around. That was the word on the oak mites that infested my oak trees this fall.

Good luck and happy hunting
