Why not Texas ?

On legalizing marijuana I get the feeling Texas is going to be one of the last states to do so.
Why?, what are the main reasons the politicians or voters for that matter oppose this?
I have never smoked, used tobacco in my teens, mainly because I wanted to "be cool and belong" with my peers. I might use it as I get older, arthritis, heck even recreational,. I have friends that do, not heavily, they have families and jobs, pot does not make them crazy or lazy.
Other states are generating revenue with this, not to mention the resources that are not wasted on prosecuting it (police, courts, users).
Today the DA unveiled the "2nd chance" program, barely alleviating the prosecuting part of it.

On the other hand, Abbot seems to be flat against it, even worst, fecking Sessions was appointed as AG, so forget it @ federal level.

Do the voters really think keeping illegal is the best way? because if the majority don't, why don't their representatives actually, you know, represent?

You got a bunch of old hokey pokey folks here. I personally do enjoy the subject of this thread, most of the ladies do to I've seen. It will be deleted or closed as the site rules are made by some hokey pokey folks as well.
I'm well aware of GUIDELINE #15. I'm trying the political angle, not the use per se.
In fact, is the shortest of GUIDELINES, that means vague, and what I'm asking is those who don't use it, why keep it illicit? (to use the GUIDELINE wording), obviously the ones that partake will be for it. But whatever, if this thread is closed, that in itself will be a response.

This was meant as a political discussion, that shouldn't have to be a R vs D issue.

Did y'all notice? I used the word GUIDELINE 3 times folks, like 45 does, let me tell you the GUIDELINES are not great, I'm just saying ... I assume some of them are decent .. I guess. Lets make some great GUIDELINES, they will be wonderful, believe me, I know GUIDELINES.

What guidelines?

Texas has the Southern Baptist mentality. Some places in Texas are still "Dry", even though Prohibition ended almost 100 years ago. Same reason you don't have legalized gambling here.

Follow the money. Who gains and loses if TX legalized marijuana or casino gambling?

I understand your desire to discuss this but rules are rules. I would like to discuss it as a matter of fact!

#15 - There is no place in our forums for the general discussion or speculation of illicit drug use. This is to be considered a forbidden topic and mention of it will be removed.

But it has to be closed or removed.
