DFW Gun Shows

Does anyone know which are the best gun shows to go to in the area? I'm looking to buy a Springfield .45XD and possibly a Romanian Dragunov, if I can find the b**ch.

BigTown in Mesquite has always had what I'm looking for. Another trick is to call a few places like B&S Guns and ask if they'll have what you're looking for at the show because they offer better prices at the shows than in the store.

Another option for specific guns is to look at Gunsamerica.com and if you find one at the price you want, they'll ship it to a local FFL who will charge a small fee to get it and run the background check before handing it over.

Gun show sales from a person do not require a background check because it is no one else's business when a private party sells any private property.

CheaperthanDirt is in Ft Worth if I am not mistaken.

I am a Springfield guy. I have the XD 9mm and the XD9 subcompact. The subcompact is as accurate as the larger XD. The 45 is a good choice as well.

Good luck

I also agree about BigTown as well. It may not be as big as the one at Market Hall but I never have any complaints when I go to Big Town.

Specifically, I usually like to check out a vendor called The Gun Zone. I never seem to pay retail when I shop with them.

Also, another online store is www.gunbroker.com

Gun Zone was supposed to put in an indoor range, haven't stopped by there since fall of last year so don't know if they're up and going with it yet.

hd - thank's for the intel about Gun Zone and the indoor range. That might be a good question for me to ask them if I go to the gun show this month in Bigtown.

The next Dallas Market Hall gunshow is April 9th/10th and is the largest in the area. I've always found a much larger variety of stuff there than at the smaller shows around town.
Cheaper than dirt has a website, but their shop is located at 820 & I-35W in north Fort Worth. If you are on I-820 Westbound from the mid-cities, take the first exit after you cross I-35W, then u-turn the service road to head back east, they are right there on the southwest side of the 820/I35W intersection. Neat stuff, but I would think you go there (cheaper to check out the website considering gas prices thease days.) to get some idea of prices to use in negotiation at a gun show (the one at Big Town seems to be pretty good one).

Would expect you might negotiate better prices at a gun show, but the selection and probability of finding what you want would be less.

(AO, are you looking to use these in the playing you were suggesting in the Other Realm?

Just teasing you, have a great day.)

The Armory in Mesquite has prettymuch specialized in milsurp.

Gunmaster in Plano has a lot of 1911's, Springfield (and Kimber).

Bigtown Gun show is about as good as any. Just do your research online so that yhou know what kinda prices are good. xd 45 is a nice gun, im a glock guy myself tho. And its a Romanian PSL, not a dragunov, it may look the same but its very different mechanically. A true Dragunov will cost you a couple of thousand at the very least. good luck
The Big Town show ain't what it used to be. A lot of the bigger dealers no longer sell at that show. Haven't seen Bachman there in quite a while. Seems like half of what you see is beanie babies, airsoft, jewelry and other trash.

Market Hall is a much better show. Don't waste your time with Cheaper Than Dirt. Their prices on almost everything are high.

Also, don't go to any gun show thinking you will be able to make a purchase and not go through a background check. If you are buying from a FFL dealer, you'll be required to go through the check. If purchasing from a person without an FFL, it is a private transaction not subject to the check. Almost without exception, you are going to get your best price from a volume FFL dealer. They can sell cheaper because they sell more.

If you can't make any of the shows, run by Bachman Gun on Northwest Highway. The have a terrific selection of handguns and their prices are competitive with anyone in town. They'll be at the Market Hall show. You do get a better price at the show typically than walking into the shop.

Your best bet on that rifle is gunsamerica.com, gunbroker.com and you might keep an eye on sturmgewehr.com as well. That is a pretty scarce item. The Springfield you can walk into any Academy and buy.

Good luck, have fun. Be safe.
Big town has a lot to chose from Good luck

Last time I went to the Market Center show, Obama was talking about adding taxes or whatever to ammo purchases, I was looking to buy ammo, but all the dealers had left was the cheap crap. The dealers were pretty much all sold out. About the samething when I was at the Big Town show about a year ago, although I did buy a Mosin-Nagant that time.

I don't know what the ammo availability is at this time, but either place always has the same ammo dealers there.
