Here's a topic for you *Polygamy*

I've been watching the reality show Sister Wives and wondering what you think about Polygamy and...

1. Why is it against the law?
2. If it were legal...how many of you would have a polygamist marriage...and if not, why?
Did you watch Big Love on HBO? Super good and unexpected ending for sure! Personally, I could not handle that crazyness. Im waaaaaay to jealous and selfish!
Yes, I watch that show too! At least you're honest with yourself...but, I used to be and think that way when I was in my 20's. When I think about it now...it seems so crazy that I would be so insecure and jealous...when I was at the hottest point of my life. Now that I'm more *mature* you would think I'd be more jealous and insecure...but, I'm not at all!

I would love to be in a polygamist marriage...talk about having your cake and eating it too! (lol) Of course, it would take like-minded women to make it work..otherwise, whoa...what a headache! (lol)
Well, maybe I will grow out of it, but I doubt it haha! I wish I wasn't that way but I always have been! I think it would take a lot of work to do that kind of marriage.

One wife seems like a big enough pain in the ass. I'm not married, but most married guys I know are miserable. In fact, that is why they turn to the hobby. So tell me why the hell anyone would want to complicate and expand the misery? Besides, if you cannot be happy with the one woman for the rest of your life, then its probably not the right woman/time to get married. I hope to be monogamous once I get married, and I HOPE my wife does the same. Then again, the variety in the sex life may help to keep a married couple happy and sane....

Big Love was an awesome show.. wasnt too keen on the ending tho. Those people on 'Sister Wives' are just so mindless.. that dude is a total putz.. how he has so much money and 4 women is beyond me.
In the real world, freedom of religion should be absolute and thus I don't beleive there should be any law saying who can be married to whom under any circumstances.. marriage is a spiritual institution not a political one. Sure for tax and other practical purposes there should be legalities in place to accomidate any situation.. but the government should have no say whatsoever, the parties involved would need to have the resources and common sense to sort out any contingencies they require with their lawyers and whatnot.
I believe in polyamory and under the right conditions would love the benefits and be able to handle the difficulties of multiple, long term partners. Such things aren't common in my faith but are not unheard of or frowned upon since we do not believe in any enforcement of 'morality' on anyone.. an individuals right to practice what their free will dictates, so long as it harms none, is absolute.
And we're allowed to drink and otherwise have a hell of a lot more fun than Mormons.
Some Mormons are fun (Those aren't Mormons btw)
Marcus, you certainly are an optimist! I haven't taken a poll of why hobbyists hobby, but I'm not so sure that's it's all due to being *miserable.* Although, I do know some most certainly are!

I think women loose their *desire* way too soon (unfortunately) and some hobbyists just aren't ready to *give it up,* and why should they...just doesn't seem fair to me. If I were a man I think I would really struggle with this issue.

Pepper...you have no idea! (lol)

I think with the right combination of man/women, or even woman/men can happen. The S.O. and I watched a documentary on polygamy before the Big Love show started, and she expressed that it would be "kinda cool" to have a full time girlfriend to hang out with. Lots of drama for sure, but I think it would make life much more interesting. I think I would have to grow a most interesting man beard first.

My wife has been watching Sister Wives... she asked me this AM what I thought about it.

Of course, the 2nd wife (according to her) would cook, clean, watch the kids, and have frequent sex with me, while we both work. Oh, and she would sleep in the guest room.... and my wife doesn't understand why I laugh.

I'm not thinking there are too many women interested in that job.
I practice "PALIGAYUMMY" I have several husbands that DO what I want when I need it!!! NOW DAMN IT DO IT!!!! You want to be my naughty husband!!! MARRY ME

Then I woke up.....

When I was "advising" for Uncle Sam in the middle east a couple of years ago, I was told by locals that 3 wives is the magic number. They said with two there was too much competition, and 4 turns into a team sport. Of course, the mindset of the women is much different over there, so it works.
So how about polygamy with a matriarch? Where the woman has several husbands.
