Hey guys, Im visiting Las Vegas this weekend for a photography gig. Though, since Im there all weekend, I was wondering if anyone knew some other good spots in the area for local flavor photography.. Other than the normal doing the strip and Fremont center since everyone has done those already. Im looking for anything quirky or strange or even bizarre! Im going to check out the neon graveyard too.. Even if your a provider and need some shoots done, im open to that as well..
Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!
Neon Graveyard would be good in town. Theres also the Pawn Stars shop, and the Precious Slut tattoo parlor and all of the wedding chapels on N LVB. Also all the restored neon signs around Fremont St Exp. Just start walking N LVB south of Fremont, the quirky will find you! If you want to do some more natural stuff there are many places. RedRock Canyon, Valley of Fire, Hoover Dam. If you are mobile and have a full day, Rachel NV and all the alien/Area 51 stuff is about 150 miles due north of Vegas. Talk about quirky!
Something that might be interesting, the brothels in Pahrump could be incorporated into some pics too. Thats only 1.5 hours out.
Thanks for all those awesome recommendations, Im taking notes now and researching them all.. Hopefully it will work out.. The neon graveyard is something Im really looking forward too. That is going to be the highlight of the trip
In addition to the sites mentioned by Chica, Mt Charleston is only about 30-40 minutes from the valley, and very scenic. Old growth pine forests and wonderful views. The view from the deck of the old Mt Charleston Lodge is amazing. The hike to Cathedral Rock offers great views as well. The summit is over 9,000 ft, so it can be a bit cooler up there, take a jacket at least.
just to let you know the neon graveyard does not allow and photoshoots with models on there grounds. If you want to schedule something they can try to accomodate you but you have to have your own insurance as a photographer with proof of at least 150,000 worth of coverage. They are pretty picky if you take a tour through as well not touching things so keep that in mind..
