Remember this when the shutdown occurs

Today (Tuesday) Obama called in the leadership of the house and said that HE was going to have to shut the government down on Friday if THEY couldn't vote on a continuing resolution. The rules of the Congress, which Obama is well aware of, require 72 hours of review before any vote. So if the Congress (GOP) steamrolls the democrats and passes a resolution today the earliest it could possibly be voted on would be Friday evening. After the Obama shutdown. It would still have to go through the Senate and be signed by Obama. His track record for signing important bills in about a week after it is presented.

So we are looking at a government shutdown instigated by Barack Obama Jr. when he and his party should have passed the budget before October 1st of last year. Personally I don't mind a shutdown, though the executive branch will decide who gets paid, because it saves us money. Just remember who is responsible; Barack Hussein Obama Jr.

How much it saves is debatable. I believe when the workers returned last time, they were paid for the time missed. There may be savings on utilities, but the backlog has to have a cost attached when they play catch up. What about IRS processing, SSI, medicare, etc. They may not be spending when they are out, but the work still needs to be done when they return.

A shut down of big goverment is what most of you guys want anyway right so does it matter how it happens. Tinfoil hat please blame game still going on.

Don't know about most, I sure don't. No matter what side you're on, can't imagine anyone taking pleasure out of any workers losing income. All this while the politicians sit around jacking each other off.

Consider these staggering figures. While the buffoons (I could really use some stronger language here) haggle over a few pennies in spending, this is what we spent just this past month.

unreal how the government spends. how long would a business last with that behavior? with them acting like that it wont matter if a shutdown happens. its coming anyway.

Cheaper, thank you for speaking up. It makes my point easier to make. You claim that the GOP wants to shut down the government but lets look at things. According to the democrats and the mainstream media if a shutdown occurs the voters will blame the GOP. This comes from Chuck Schumer, Jay Carney, and Howard Dean so it must be true, that is what they believe. Okay, if that is true then it is not in the best interest politically for the GOP to shut down the government but it is in the best interests of the democrats to shut down the government by their own admission. Understand Cheaper, it is in the best interests of the democrats to shut down the government but not the GOP. Two things come to mind; either the democrats are lying about the blame in order to cause the GOP to blink or this is so damn important that the GOP is willing to risk the blame.
I could be so biased that I can't see the obvious so I ask Cheaper for a coherent (I know, look who I'm talking to) explanation for why the GOP would shut down the government if it would work against them?

Legally the bill can't be voted on until Friday afternoon and Barry will be who knows where.

The NYT stated that 3 out of 4 government workers would still report to work...considered 'essential'. The remaining 1 out of 4 are non-essential.

Well since the shut down is about bean counting, maybe we should re-evaluate what 'non-essential' functions the government is providing?
