How many of y'all thought David Simon's HBO series "Treme" was the bomb last year?
After first episode, I packed up the family and went straight to NOLA for some music, food and partying. I've watched the entire first season three times (OK, I'll finish the third time through this afternoon) and tonight will be glued to the TV as Season Two begins.
If you haven't watched it, "Treme" is a drama set in New Orleans three months after Katrina and features the people trying to come home and make sense of their lives post storm/flood/fema, etc.
Featured some incredible NOLA musicians/music, too, many of whom play here in Austin regularly, like Rebirth Brass Band, the Nevilles, Trombone Shorty, Galactic, John Boutte, etc. Even has music and performance by some of the legends, like Alain Toussaint, Irma Thomas, Frogman Henry, Dr. John, and more.
I'm getting very pumped!
Might even have to do a little buckjumpin' in da second line!
