Since I am relocating from the Midwest, I need to find a permanent place to live. Looking for a part of town that is close to a food market, a gas station, and possibly low crime. I need to rent or buy a one story ranch style home due to my condition. I have Trulia and Zillow, but neither have the experience of living here that the board members do. Also, close to an attractive provider would always be beneficial too. Pm me with ideas that you think might help. Thanks.

My suggestion would be southwest. Or Summerlin. Both great places in the best parts of Vegas.

Lot of great places to live in the valley! I live in summerlin and I love it. Green valley and henderson is another nice area to live. It just depends on where you work, do you have family or friends in town and where do they live, what area do you work, what are your hobbies, do you need to be close to the airport, do you want to be by the strip. I'd say google search areas for crime rates, etc for your info this way you can make sure you pick the best area for you. What is your budget typically summerlin and green valley are more expensive areas to live. Welcome to Vegas!

For established neighborhoods, Summerlin and Green Valley. I favored Green Valley cause it was way closer to the airport. SW has lots of good housing with the supermarkets slowly coming along. Mountains Edge and Rhodes Ranch are 2 areas to check out (and anywhere near them) with my only complaint is that it takes 20 minutes (at least) to get anywhere from there. Gas stations are all over. I tend to use plastic so it's a pisser to find places that prefer debit (with surcharge) or cash like Rebel and Arco. One thing I like to live closer to if it makes sense is Costco. All of them in Vegas have cheap gas stations compared to the rest. So that points to Whitney Ranch (Henderson), Summerlin and Centennial Hills. The one close to downtown on MLK is a business Costco so the mix of product and the hours are different than a regular Costco. Costco does have a good selection of liquor and the handles are relative inexpensive compared to other places around town (gotta love 24x7 liquor, wish Costco was 24x7). Other ideas are where are the big locals casinos (Stations and Coasts mostly, South Point, M, Alliante, Cannerys worthy mentions) since they have restaurants and entertainment options clustered in a single place. Dottys if you need cheap cigs (cash only) and liquor overnight. Dispensaries might be a criteria since they may make deliveries a thing of the past (except for medical, maybe), none in Henderson so far. Just make sure your money can last cause most quality providers are expensive as fuck in Vegas.

Thanks for the info. I am a Costco member, so that's where I get my gas. Love South Point and Green Valley Ranch - plus closer to the (hopefully) new Raiders stadium.
