driving your car in CA

California is probably the strictest place now for auto emissions.

If you decide to drive around CA for a few months with an out of state license plate, do they stop you now, and tell you to pass CA emissions laws ?

Or if you go for a vacation there, rent an apartment for 3 months, and take your car, how about then ?

If not, it seems like you can still drive a car there for quite some time that is not able to pass CA auto emissions.

Not many older cars can pass those emissions standards, even fairly new cars.

California emission testing is for people with California plates on your car. Just like we do the testing for emissions in H-town to get for your car with Texas plates.

Certain situations exist, such as people stationed in the military in California with out-of-state plates, to allow them to live in California for years without claiming residency and they do not have to do any of the California emission testing.

In there situation, they would just have to pass the emission testing in their home state if any exits.

So if your driving around with out-of-state plates, NO, they will tell you to get California emission testing done.

All this assumes you have a current driver's license and current out-of-state license plates.

To answer your second question, first of all, you need to be physically present in California for one year to claim to be a resident of California. So no California emission testing would not apply to you because your only there for 3 months and you have current out-of-state plates.

Their are additional requirements, or combination of requirements, in California listed on the California D.M.V. web page. There it tells you can actually be there for only three months, but certain requirements or combination of requirements must be met.

I think the illegals have one additional step: They need to steal someone's identity before they can proceed to the rest of the steps.
they usually "borrow" an identity.....

.....from a dead primo or tio.
