"Mod contact"

So I just got a text from a number claiming to be "Amber's" favorite Eccie Mod. Asking how everything is going and stating that she would be verified soon. First I'd like to point out I'm NOT Amber and I'm ALREADY verified.

Second I have a question. I thought I had read that the Mods are not supposed to contact you directly about verification or trying to help you get verified. I'm not exactly positive about that because it's been a while since I read it.

I've been using the same work number for over a year now. So I'm not really sure how IF this person is actually a mod would get the phone number mixed up. Nor do I understand why they are sending a direct text instead of sending a PM. Has anyone else had this happen? Is there something I should be aware of, or what?

I really think this is odd behavior for a Mod since I've been here for over a year now and this is the first time this has ever happened.

Thoughts??? Ideas??? Additional information???

If they sent a text they may not be a mod, have them contact you through Eccie by private message to be sure they are a mod.

Over the past 2 years there has been an imposter posing as a Dallas Mod. Previously pretending t o be NYr.

Nyr is no longer a moderator a nd the person who had been contacting providers was not NYr. He would contact by Text.
