I havent seen a thread about it so I thought I would start one. I want to take a min to say a prayer for all those in Joplin that were in the middle of the tornado that hit last night.
Ive seen alot of pictures and video and it scared the crap out of me. I had some friends that lived close and thank goodness they are all safe!!! As it is storm season here everyone remember that this is a serious thing As much as you want to watch it and get footage its not worth your life. take cover and be safe....
You're sweet.
I'm scared too. Would you wrap your legs around my head so I'll feel safe?
Heart breaking, simply Heart breaking
Kinda makes me think, as a tie into this site, sometimes we get so wrapped up
into drama, name calling, accusations, etc, etc.
Then something like this comes along as a reality check...I'm sure alot of those folks would trade place in a minute with our trials and tribulations.
VKMaster~ you are right alot of ppl do get wrapped up in other things. there is a you tube video of people in a gas station cooler that just brought tears to my eyes. all these people didnt know one another but stuck together and prayed. They were telling each other they loved one another and others crying and praying. After they were making sure ppl were ok and saying sorry because they were laying on one another or bumping into them in the dark. It is sad that it takes something like this to love and respect one another and use manners but that is life.
WOW, what a video
There is a part of me that wants to find that video, and another strong part that
stops me from seeking that video out.
Not very manly of me to say, but something tells me I'll get choke up.
To those in the Joplin area, who undoubtly will pull together and lean on each other
for strength and comfort....
RESPECT!!!!!!
VKMASTER It is more audio then actually video due to it being dark, but you will feel goosebumps and tear up. You can hear a child crying for his/her mom. They have played parts of it on CNN. It starts out right before the tornado hits and then goes all the way till after.. The sounds are just flat out scary.
I watched / listened to that one on youtube.
Just one of hundreds if not thousands of similar experiences going on throughout that ordeal...
man..

I've been watching the news too. I don't know if too many of you all are familar with Joplin. It's a medium sized town of 50,000. I grew up in SE Kansas about 60 miles west of Joplin and going there was a regular occurrence for many people in my hometown. There's a lot of restaurants, theatres and shopping there.
I haven't been there in years though and don't know anybody that lives there. It surely looks awful there right now and they need all the help they can get as well as our prayers. Hope they recover soon and especially hope the weather holds up with no more storms for awhile.

Saw the storms being reported on the news so I called my buddy who lives on the south side of Joplin to give him some shit about God taking a dump on him. Didn't realized the extent of the damage until I talked to him. He was uninjured and so was his family. His house suffered a lot of damage, his mothers house was completed wiped away. Makes you realize that stuff can be replaced for the most part, your life is worth so much more.

On the subject of the Joplin Tornado, prior to the one that ravaged Joplin we had one hit and destroy the town of Reading. Most people in Emporia were able to see the tornado as it formed in Emporia than skirted Emporia and Americus and hit Reading. Reading suffered a direct hit from a tornado rated as an EF-3 it killed on person. please keep the people of reading in your prayers as well.
Yes Oengnus you are so right we do need to keep them in our prayers...
There has been wayyyyyyy too many bad storms/Tornado's already this year and its not even close to being over with. I heard on I think CNN today that there have been 49 tornado's and 453 deaths from them.... That is just scary right there!!!
