Security reminder

Ladies and gentlemen, might I suggest that this would be an excellent time to ramp up your security procedures? Such as changing your passwords here. Also not responding to any messages from unknown users - or even strange messages from known users. Security is paramount, of course.
Good suggestion! I am for sure.

I think everyone should be using a VPN if they are not already - here and everywhere, but especially here.

Keep in mind however that there are also decidedly less technical threats. Be careful what you say to anyone who reaches out as an unknown user on the forum, especially with strange or vague messages. That should get your spidey sense tingling immediately. Best just not to respond if you have any doubt.

I'd also be cautious with those you know personally if they ask you something strange or out of character in a PM or text, or for those you only know from the forum trying to initiate real world contact. Trusted (or at least known) phone numbers and trusted forum handles are a weak link in our security, because there's no guarantee that the person on the other end is still the person you know.

For those you have met before, if you have any doubts you can ask them a verification question that only you and that person would know based on your real world encounters. I've done that a couple of times. Not often, but for example when someone got a new phone number and reached out to me with it prior to telling me they were getting a new one. It was also someone that rarely reaches out to me (usually I initiate contact) so that made me a little suspicious also. It turned out to be the right person, but better safe than sorry.

I don't think anyone should mind or take it personally if they are asked to prove they are who they appear to be. Personally I like it because that means the person asking me is concerned with their own security, which protects me too.

Everyone be safe!

I use IPVanish, it can rotate ip addresses minimum every 45 minutes to every 90 minutes i believe and never rotate, if your a gamer, you do not want to rotate as it might cause you to wipe if you are in the middle of a raid.

I never answer or open email, im, pm unless i know who it is and nobody has my real phone number. My hobby phone stays safely hidden away miles from my house under lock and key with the sim out and battery removed until I am ready to hobby again.

I change passwords every 6 months on bill and monies accounts, not this one though, if someone is trying to hack this account, i have bigger worries than account security.
