Good wine bars in SA?

Those who know me, know I enjoy red wine. Esp wines with unique names and a bite to them.

I went to a wine bar in downtown Austin some weeks back called Cru' http://www.cruawinebar.com/ and really enjoyed the variable flights of wine (awesome selection of wine) & laid back atmosphere. And the food was good and just enough to satisfy your palette.

I was wondering if there are any wine bars in SA that are similar?

I came across 2 on the UrbasSpoon app on my phone. Both have high ratings of 91 & 88%. Has anyone been to them? if so, what's the overall atmosphere like? And the wine selection?
Any feedback would be appreciated.

The Copa nice but still a smaller selection than what I am used to seeing. Zinc is a nice one down town.

There is also a nice wine bar in New Braunsfels, and for the life of me I cannot remember its name! A brief search should turn it up in google.

I second Zinc. Cozy and intimate.

Good wine selection?? I'm picky with wine as I am with men. The wine bar needs to have a vast selection of wines to choose from.

Thanks for the link. That looks like my kind of place. Going to have to make a visit there and enjoy some wine.

Been there a few times. Good food, not so good in the wine selection.

Try the SAMM shelter, great selection of winos there, both foreign and domestic

I'm not a huge fan of 20nine. I always found it was more for guys to show off how much cash they could blow on overpriced California wines. Across Basse, there's Max's Wine Dive. Pretty good wine selection, even if the atmosphere tries too hard to be cool. I do like Zinc. If you're going to eat there, get the burger. It's amazing.

The Monterey in Southtown has a small but always intriguing wine selection, and the food ranges from fun and fantastic to pretentious and annoying.

I'd also suggest the bar at Luke on Houston Street, with a thoughtful if not huge wine selection. I didn't like Copa because it had too many supermarket wines. Lots of wines but not very many good ones.

Good luck, WM. Let us know which wine bar you visited and what you thought. It has been several years since I enjoyed your company, but I remember your class and good taste.
