Visiting During MardiGras

So unfortunately my trip a few weeks ago had to be canceled last minute, but I still really want to tour and visit the New Orleans area. When i was planning to visit it was a week or so before mardigras was supposed to start... And now that its started, im wondering if its still worth touring the area right now? Is it better to wait until after mardigras? Or would it not affect business, or make it better? I know its a busy time so im leary of any LEO threats or any other dangers. Would the Lafayette area be better??
As always, any advice is appreciated. Thank you. <3

Actually.... Mardi Gras as an event is over. Fat Tuesday is the end of the festivities for all intents and purposes. Hotel prices usually drop the week after as demand drops.
As for LEO activity, more locals would be able to give you more info.

For future reference, planning weeks or even months ahead of time might be useful when considering visiting New Orleans during Mardi Gras. Also be aware that getting around can be really challenging in the days leading up to Fat Tuesday. Both streetcar operators and Lyft/ Uber/ cab drivers literally will stop at Rampart St, leaving one to walk the rest of the way to get into the French Quarter.
You should wait until the end of March cause I'll be visiting and would love to meet you haha
