prostitution bust at Overton Hotel

I just read online the two people that got arrested. Are now facing federal charges for child sex trafficking of minor.

I believe these are the same two that were arrested about a month ago.

They were arrested back on March 30 just for prostitution. But, now federal charges have been added because of the minor.

I saw the story on KCBD - what is new that they both could face life in prison. A terrible thing for a life to experience when you are only 18y.o. and have been (most likely influenced by a pimp.) Sex trafficking of a minor, illegal drugs, and child porn.
I am somewhat sympathetic of the 18y.o. but not towards the pimp involved in this mess. She and the 16 y.o female are both most likely victims of the same pimp - imho. It looks like she is going to pay a terrible price at her young age.

They are a part of the community in whole; and this incident caused some really nice people to suffer needlessly for their deeds. I do genuinely feel somewhat sorry/sympathetic for the 18 y.o - she was most likely recruited by the pimp as an underage minor and simply turned 18 during her involvement with him. She faces life in prison most likely because of his influence(s).

Really nice people?? You know these folks to state this? While there is certainly a lot to back up the influence that the pimp can have on these two girls, to a certain point the girls have to take responsibility for allowing themselves to be led into this situation. All of their fault? Certainly not. But lets not call them "nice people" just because. Everyone knows wrong... not everyone cares enough not to do the wrong.

The police in Lubbock kind of went into search and destroy mode for a while - and other escorts suffered as the result of the Overton bust. I was not inferring that the pimp was nice (just the opposite); and NO I really think the 18 y.o. should be given consideration based upon her current age (and when she started with the pimp - most likely 17 y.o. and perhaps a high school drop out.) At least in my humble opinion - the underage girl thing was really dumb on their part !!! I can certainly understand public concern and police scrutiny - a bad mess for all. I think things are getting better since this bust occurred almost 2 months ago -
