Well don't look for a zoo here because Austin doesn't have one. And if you like art museums or galleries you can strike that off your list because the people here are not into that either. If natural history museums are your thing well forget that also because Austin never invested in one. If you like great restaurants you might want to look elsewhere because all the eateries here are either hamburgers, pizza or tacos. If you like music you can go downtown, but the music won't be good. And if you walk down there be ready for a loud onslaught of sound from all the bands playing in clubs with their windows open. Watch your speed too on I-35 because it's a speed trap with officers parked everywhere looking to pull people over, and if you do get detained be prepared to be accused of intoxication even if you are not. I heard there's a couple of movies playing though in town..

Pussycat will never be known as the good will ambassador for Austin.

Some of my favorite clubs for music are Antones, One-2-One, Saxon Pub, Cactus Cafe, Stubbs, and Central Market on North Lamar.

Some incredible restaurants near central Austin depending on the type of food you are looking for. Anyone who says the cuisine in Austin is limited to burgers, hot dogs, and tacos is an idiot. Austin is home to some of the hottest chefs in the nation.

As for other things to do other than eat and listen to live music -- in addition to the activities listed below, there is usually something going on at Bass Concert Hall and the Zack Theater.
And maybe a sporting event at the UT campus.

Austin zoo

Guide to Austin art (23 art galleries and 6 museums listed)

Oh, but Austin doesn't have a zoo or any art, according to some idiot.
If you like kayaking try it on Town Lake, in downtown
