Provider friendly living?

I'm not sure if this topic has already been posted somewhere, but I can't find it so maybe you all can help me out

I just moved to Kansas and have pretty much been living out of hotels since February. I would like a place to call my own, and where I'm at now (renting a room out of someone's house for about a week now) doesn't feel exactly 'safe' to me. I'm not concerned TOO much about my safety, per say, more that my landlord will someday (soon) figure out what I've got going on, and judging by how active he is in the community, he's the last person I want figuring out what I really do (ok, I guess that is a matter of my safety..)

With that being said, I want to live on my own (unless it's a REALLY COOL roommate, but those seem to be impossible to find), but don't have the greatest credit and now here's the real BIG problem- I can't prove my income! Or can I? How have you ladies gotten around this issue? Do you (or any of the men) know of 'provider friendly' living situations? Am I doomed to just stay here and try and keep everything under wraps as long as possible?
Help!

I'm sure some of ladies can give you some specific advice, but you seem like an intelligent enough gal to not end up being "doomed"
Best of luck - I'm sure you'll figure something out. Maybe you should move to KC, I'm sure we have lots of better places to call home (ha..just kidding...I used to live in Wichita and it's a nice town).
I suggest you don't sweat the rental applications too much... If you act normal and have a good story when you look to rent a place and you provide a good list of work history (not necessarily an accurate one) the vast majority of land-lords will not follow-up... If they do, they're are other places to be had... Put down some college living environment and something about living with a roommate. Then a local job where you can have a friend verify... Certainly underhanded but oh well... Does anyone get hurt as long as you pay the rent ontime?
Try contacting ACORN. I hear they have some background in this.

I use my bank statements or statements from my pre-paid credit card as proof of income so they can view my deposits. I just tell them I clean houses and model part time, which seems to work well. Don't give up honey! My landlady all but gave me a rectal exam when trying to get into one of her properties, yet I still managed to get approved and have been here for nearly 4 years now! There are tons of landlords out there who don't get "all up in your business"... as long as you keep it low key and have your rent on time, most could care less what you're up to!

p.s. I received your sweet email and will reply soon....I took a few personal days off to deal with family stuff, sorry!

Well it sounds like you have a room rented, so could you just take business to a nearby hotel so your land lord doesn't notice?

I actually put up a rentals wanted ad on CL. It was of course anonymous, and I said I'm an adult entertainer. I wasn't all that specific in this area, but I did include in the ad that I don't do any business at my place of residence and also that I was not interested in having any other sort of relationship besides landlord/tenant. I rented a house in KC this way, and also Daytona Beach. Also, you can pay a few months up front...money talks and we all know what bull shit does.....

Hey sweetie,

Pm me and I can help you out in Wichita. My family owns a few properties and I can see if they have any places available.

Of course, if you're looking for employment verification, George Costanza could refer you to Vandalay Industries.....or you could claim to be a Kirby Vacuum salesperson.
