maybe walters thinks palin is in the oscar mayer weiner bus?

Walters used to be a good, serious journalist. Now she is senile.
If Sen. Vitter stays in Congress then so can Weiner unless the people vote him out. Must be ok in Lousiana to do it physically but not in NY on a virtual basis.

Both are less than a full load and I would not miss either of them.

They tend to pick and choose who stays and who goes, depending on who's in power. This is a good argument for neither party to be in power.

Gentlemen, I am disappoint.

Babs assumed her audience (and all of you) knew that Sarah Palin's bus tour violated FEC laws.

Follow the money. Where did the money for the bus tour come from? SarahPAC. Isn't PAC money supposed to be spent on a politician running for office instead of a family vacation? Yep. Oh, so that means that Sarah must be running for President. If she is, she hasn't filed papers. And she'd be in a heap of trouble because she's a paid on-air employee of Fox 'News'.

Sarah Palin is not running for President. She's just pretending to for the money, power, and attention. She's like a female version of Newt Gingrich or Donald Trump, but not as bright.
Two things -

LM - I agree with you that this "bus tour" if paid with PAC funds for someone who has not filed as a candidate for office is violating federal election laws.

CND - I agree with you that it is up to the electorate in Weiner's district in New York as to whether or not he should be removed from office - not the GOP, not the Democrat hierarchy. If his constituents believe he should be re-elected in 2012, then he should be re-elected - as long as Weiner has not been found guilty of any illegal activity.

If he said anything remotely sexual to the 17 year old he has admitted talking to via FB or Twitter, then he needs to go, no matter what his district wants.
amen.

1. Elect a candidate.
2. Defeat a candidate (i.e. anti-candidate advertising)
3. Promote an agenda or a belief.

Quickest citation I could find on short notice - http://usgovinfo.about.com/od/thepol.../aboutpacs.htm

Critical passage: "However, there is no limit to how much PACs can spend on advertising in support of candidates or in promotion of their agendas or beliefs. PACs must register with and file detailed financial reports of monies raised and spent to the Federal Election Commission."

To the extent that Sarah's bus tour is promoting a set of beliefs or an agenda - and you'd have to do some pretty wild gyrations to contend that it wasn't - it's perfectly legal and within FEC laws for her PAC to pay for it. Sarah would only be in violation if she didn't file reports.

Deacon, don't be so quick to believe what Longer says. Like most libs, he hasn't a fucking idea of what he's talking about.

Now, tweeting your dick to a 17 year old....

Wait just a damn second, KSHunter! I am not a lib, and everyone here thinks I don't know what the fuck I'm talking about! I don't want to lumped in with liberals (or conservatives, either). So I just want to be clear, just because I don't know what the fuck I'm talking about, it doesn't automatically mean I'm a liberal. I know one's first assumption about someone not knowing what the fuck they're talking about is that they must be liberal, and they are usually right. But not in my case, ok? Not a liberal, even if I don't know what the fuck I'm talking about.

Whew! Glad we got that cleared up.
