New Yorker Mag: "The Rage of the Incels"

This morning, by sheer chance, I stumbled across this March 2018 post by 4ariel in the Security Matters forum:

She describes having been harassed, multiple times, by a troll claiming to be an Armed Forces veteran and former ECCIE mod; and threatening, for no apparent reason, to make her existence on ECCIE "a living hell." In one text, he told her:

“I hope you get a job and pay your taxes like every one else - I am so glad the government is shutting down your [sic] whores and the scum of men you fuck.”

She expressed concern whether the harasser was indeed a former mod. Am I the only one who sees a huge discrepancy between his claim of former mod status, and his rant about "...the scum of men you fuck"? My conclusion: He's nothing more than a troll who singled out this poor young woman at random.

But he may be much more than an ordinary troll. This evening -- again by sheer chance, on Facebook -- I ran across a New Yorker magazine article titled, "The Rage of the Incels":

The author writes of these "incels" (short for "involuntarily celibate"):

In the past few years, a subset of straight men calling themselves “incels” have constructed a violent political ideology around the injustice of young, beautiful women refusing to have sex with them. These men often subscribe to notions of white supremacy. They are, by their own judgment, mostly unattractive and socially inept. (They frequently call themselves “subhuman.”) They’re also diabolically misogynistic. “Society has become a place for worship of females and it’s so fucking wrong, they’re not Gods they are just a fucking cum-dumpster,” a typical rant on an incel message board reads. The idea that this misogyny is the real root of their failures with women does not appear to have occurred to them...

...If what incels wanted was sex, they might, for instance, value sex workers and wish to legalize sex work. But incels, being violent misogynists, often express extreme disgust at the idea of “whores.”

Something to keep in mind when you see rants like the one directed at 4ariel; or posts by trolls who speak in condescending tones to the rest of us -- yet they themselves have never reported an Encounter.

The rise of social media has given a platform to “subhumans” of all kinds, and we’ve had our share of encounters with them here in the SA forum. One guy dumps violent kiddie porn on the site. Another Photoshops pics of local ladies getting reamed by 14-inch cocks. And let’s not forget the Big Blue Weenie, who was at least an entertaining deviant.

You’re likely correct that this lady’s stalker was an “incel.” A clear giveaway that he was not a “former Mod” was his threat to post private communications. Still, he and they pose a legitimate threat, as none of us know which one of them is capable of escalating the stalking to physical confrontation. Her post does, however, give us another opportunity to remind ladies of Hobbying’s Prime Directive: “Screen, screen, and screen.”
