''A congressman actually apologized to BP's CEO for the way the company has been treated. How stupid are you when the CEO of BP is in the room and people think you're the moron?''—Jay Leno, on Rep. Joe Barton (R-Texas)

''This is not a case of Democrats vs. Republicans. It's sentient beings vs. the Lizard People.'' —Bill Maher on the 'Birthers' who claim Obama was born in Kenya

Term limits. One term and then at least two off for congress.

No lobbying. ACLU, NRA, AMA, TLA, etc... STFU.

Now my comment about the above quote...

Why is that the standard? Read something that goes against your party/views... whatever, dismiss the source. How about this novel concept, address the points in the article. Are they true? Do you know? I don't, am interested in finding out.

Don't believe everything you read, find the facts yourself. MSNBC and FOXNews are not sources for truth. They are fountains of demagoguery that sell a lot of advertising. Millions tune in to have their beliefs reaffirmed... facts be damned. It's sad.

Another interesting point - MSNBC v. FOXNews, devotees from either side believe their channel tells the truth, and the other is spewing lies and attempting to bring the country to ruin. They can't see that one is the reflection of the other... interesting.

Fact check, fact check, fact check!!

Oshins is spot on because there are always agendas in politics but what agendas are for you or against you?

I've always tried to present the most factually correct information I can find no matter what political or otherwise source it comes from.

Some of the info I used to debate rakhir about fracking was from the Heritage Foundation and they are extremely conservative.

Just because there are two sides to a debate doesn't always mean the truth lies somewhere in the middle, one side can be just wrong.

Whom do you believe?
Agreed rodram. Fair and balanced is just a slogan. And a bad one.

Lets see what the politicians do, not what they say, and we have seen enough of that with the current administration. If the Republicans hope to win the next election, then they had better come up with a canidate of substance, or Obama will get reelected.

The bottom line is whichever party can muster the largest turnout in the critical states will win the lection.

Republican,Democrat, usless labels, which are interchangable,in the end both are politicians (oppourtunist....Perry) who are interested in their carreers (pockets...Edwards).

They all promise solutions,(Obama)but don't deliver. At least the late night comedians, put things in their proper perspective.

My favorite is the lighted billboard at 1604 and 10 that spews tea-bag BS. Lots of quotes of Thomas Jefferson about fiscal responsibility. What most people don't (care to) know is that he was always in debt (personal), and buried the US in debt during his presidency. It's like pointing at the Titanic as a model for shipbuilding. The other side of that coin is that the debt he incurred bought the Louisiana Purchase... Sometimes it's worth it to spend the money.

I had no idea that billboard was there, I wonder who is funding it? Speaking of funding, there is a huge argument amongst Democrats right now over campaign finance.

Republicans, of course, have fully embraced Citizens United and have no qualms about accepting unlimited corporate money to finance their candidates no matter the obvious conflict of interest.

President Obama and the DNC have made the argument that if Democrats did not do the same, the party would be at a tremendous disadvantage and better do that now and try to correct the problem with campaign finance law later when in office.

This of course is getting tremendous push back from major players in the party like Russ Feingold whose bill with John McCain in the 2002 (Feingold/McCain Act) limited campaign finance and provided oversight but was then overturned by Citizens United in 2009.

Feingold and many supporters are arguing that going down the same road as the Republicans is playing with the devil and takes away the stark contrast between Democrats and Republicans which Democrats often trumpet to great success.

I am completely flummoxed on this issue and anyone that has an opinion on this your input would be greatly appreciated.
