I agree that Palin, McCain, or Bush would not have made that mistake. Earning a MOH is a huge deal. Presenting one is a huge deal. Not many presidents get that an opportunity to meet a real hero and recognize their bravery. Same goes for the opportunity to meet the parents of a dead hero. Imagine meeting your hero for one time only and then forgetting the event less than two years later. This just demonstrates how little impression this made on Barack. The first three people mentioned have taken a bunch of shit about their intelligence or motives but you can't impugn their patriotism.
